Northern Road Relays – Sunderland, 20th September
Senior Women and U18 boys take home sliver medals
The club travelled to Sunderland to take part in the Northern Athletics Road Relay Championships. Conditions weren’t ideal with an undulating course and a sharp headwind in parts.
Teams were well supported and there were a number of teams running on the day.
The senior men had A, B & C teams, senior women A & B teams and our young athletes entering teams in the following age categories:
– U16 boys
– U18 girls
– U18 boys
There were some fantastic performances with the Senior women A team finishing 2nd overall (Kate, Ava – debut race for Border, Olivia & Rachel).
The women’s B team (Rhiannon, Bella, Alex & Mellisa) also finished fastest B team.
Senior Men A team (Tom, Ross, Adam, James, George & David) finished 14th overall. Men’s B team (51st), Men’s C team (78th)
In the young athletes relays there were fantastic performances all around, including with a silver medal for the U18 boys.
– U18 boys A – 2nd overall (A team – Peter, Luke & Liam)
– Peter Wayman overall fastest U18 leg
– U18 boys B – fastest B team (B team – Joe, Gill & Jacob)
– U16 boys 22nd overall (Matthew, Oliver & Ollie)
– U18 girls 19th overall (Suzie, Matilda & Elena)
National Road Relays – Birmingham, 3rd October
The club also saw two teams travel to Birmingham on October, with senior men and U18 boys fielding a team each, finishing respectably in strong fields.
