The Brampton to Carlisle is a rapid, accurate 10 mile course in North Cumbria.
It starts at William Howard School in Brampton and finishes on Eden Bridge in Carlisle,
close to the Sands Centre.

The route follows the A689 through Newby East before joining the B6264 into Carlisle.
It is fully on road, flat, and ideal for running a fast time.

The course is fully marshalled.

There is no dedicated event parking at the school. Limited on‑street parking is available around Brampton, but DO NOT park on the main road outside the school as this will impede the race start.

Finish – The Sands Leisure Centre, Carlisle (CA1 1JQ)

The race finishes at The Sands Leisure Centre in Carlisle, close to the city centre and easy to reach by car.

Parking in Carlisle

Carlisle offers a wide range of pay‑and‑display car parks within walking distance of the finish. Options include:

  • The Sands Car Park (adjacent to the finish)
  • Swifts Bank Car Park (next to The Sands Centre)
  • Castle Car Park, Devonshire Walk (CA3 8AN) – a large alternative around 10 minutes’ walk away

These locations are ideal for runners planning to return to Carlisle after the race.

Public Transport

Carlisle offers a range of public transport options, including long distance and local trains stopping at Carlisle Railway Station, about 10 minutes walk from the location of the finish at The Sands Centre, where race buses can take you to the start. Sunday morning timetables are however limited before 9am, so you may wish to stay overnight if using public transport.

Make sure your bag tag is attached before loading your bag.
Last bag‑drop bus leaves 10 minutes before the race start.
Bags are transported to the finish area at The Sands Centre.

At the Start

Toilets available.
Warm‑up area provided.
Marshals will guide runners to the start area.
The race begins promptly — please arrive in good time.

On the Course

Fully marked 10‑mile route.
Marshals at all key junctions.
Two water stations on the course.
Medical support positioned along the course and at the finish.
